One of the most highly regarded accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs earning accreditation from the JRCERT have gone through a detailed examination of their teachers and course materials. If the school is online it may also obtain accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets distance or online learning. All accrediting organizations should be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Accreditation can also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And many Struthers OH employers will only hire a graduate of an accredited college for entry level openings.

Are Internship Programs Sponsored? Inquire if the Ohio radiology tech colleges you are assessing have relationships with regional clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Where is the School Located? For a number of students, the school they decide on will need to be within driving distance of their Struthers OH home. Those who have decided to attend classes online naturally will not have to concern themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of importance. One thing to bear in mind is that if you decide to enroll in a college that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you might be required to pay a higher tuition. State colleges normally charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges frequently charge a higher tuition to those students that live outside of their districts.

How Big are the Classes ? Unless you are the kind of person that prefers to sit far in the back of class or hide in the crowd, you will likely prefer a smaller class size. Smaller classes allow for more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the Struthers OH schools you are reviewing what the typical teacher to student ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may want to sit in on one or more classes before making your final determination. This will also give you a chance to speak with some of the students and instructors to get their opinions regarding the radiology technician program also.

Does the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you must verify that the x-ray tech  school you ultimately select can offer the class schedule you need. This is especially important if you opt to continue working while attending classes. If you need to schedule evening or weekend classes in Struthers OH, verify that they are available. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, verify if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would have to carry. Also, learn what the procedure is for making up any classes that you might miss as a result of illness, work or family obligations.

Some Background on Struthers Ohio

Struthers, Ohio

Struthers is a city in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,713 at the 2010 census. Struthers is served by a branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. It is part of the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman, OH-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

John Struthers, from Washington County, Pennsylvania, purchased 400 acres (1.6 km2) of Poland Township land in 1798 and gave it the name Marbletown.[6] John Struthers owned this land until the War of 1812 came around when he and his family suffered financial ruin. This immense amount of land would lay dormant until 1865 when it would be repurchased by Thomas Struthers.[7] Thomas bought this land to honor his father, he was instrumental in bringing industry and railroads to the town.[8] Eventually, the town would have its name changed to Struthers by popular vote.[7]

In 1943, a Jehovah's Witnesses was fined by the city for distributing religious pamphlets door-to-door. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that this was a violation of the First Amendment in Martin v. Struthers.

The community's early history centers on Yellow Creek where the cradle of steel began with the building of the Hopewell Furnace.[9] This furnace was built in 1803 by Daniel Eaton and is mentioned in the first line of the 1995 Bruce Springsteen song "Youngstown".[9] The Hopewell Furnace thrived for a little over ten years until John Struthers reached his financial crisis in 1812.[10]

In 1869 Struthers again became an iron producing community with the construction of the Anna Furnace by the Struthers Iron Company.[11] In 1880 there was added the sheet mill plant of the Summer's Brothers Co., and in 1888 the plant of the J. A. and D. P. Cooper Gear Company.
