You will also have to decide if you prefer to attend online classes or commute to a nearby campus. If you choose the latter, then of course the location of the college will be critical. The price of tuition and supplementary expenses will be a determining factor as well. But along with cost and location, what more should you look at when comparing schools? Well, you need to check out if the schools are accredited, and if they provide externship or internship programs. To help you learn some of these crucial details prior to making your selection, we have assembled a list of questions that you should ask the schools you are reviewing.

Are the Radiology Technician Schools Accredited? The majority of xray tech colleges have obtained some form of accreditation, whether national or regional. However, it’s still crucial to verify that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly respected accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs earning accreditation from the JRCERT have undergone a detailed review of their instructors and course materials. If the school is online it may also receive accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets online or distance education. All accrediting agencies should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Besides ensuring a superior education, accreditation will also help in securing financial aid and student loans, which are often not accessible for non-accredited schools. Accreditation may also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And a number of Rentz GA employers will only hire graduates of an accredited school for entry-level openings.

Are Internships Offered? Inquire if the Georgia radiology tech programs you are interested in have partnerships with local hospitals or clinics for internship programs. Not only are internships a great means to obtain hands on training in a clinical setting, they are also a means to fulfill the clinical training requirement for the majority of programs. Is Job Placement Assistance offered? You will most likely wish to hit the ground running after graduating, but getting that first job in a new field can be challenging without help. Find out if the x-ray tech programs you are considering have job placement programs and what their placement rates are. Rapid and high placement rates are a good sign that the schools have sizable networks and good relationships with Rentz GA healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their graduates are highly regarded and in demand.

Where is the School Located? For a lot of students, the school they choose will need to be within commuting distance of their Rentz GA residence. Those who have opted to attend classes online obviously will not have to trouble themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of area internships will be of importance. Something to consider is that if you decide to enroll in a school that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you may be required to pay a higher tuition. State colleges commonly charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges generally charge a higher tuition for those students that live outside of their districts.

What Size are the Classes ? Unless you are the type of student that likes to sit way in the rear of the classroom or hide in the crowd, you will undoubtedly want a small class size. Smaller classes enable more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the Rentz GA colleges you are researching what the typical teacher to student ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may want to monitor one or more classes before making your ultimate decision. This will also give you a chance to speak with several of the students and instructors to get their opinions regarding the x-ray technician program also.

Can the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you must verify that the radiographer  college you ultimately choose can furnish the class schedule you need. This is particularly important if you decide to continue working while you attend classes. If you must schedule evening or weekend classes in Rentz GA, confirm that they are available. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, verify if that is an option and how many credit hours or courses you would have to carry. Also, learn what the procedure is for making up any classes that you may miss because of work, illness or family obligations.
