Holgate is a village in Henry County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,109 at the 2010 census.

Holgate was platted in 1873 when the railroad was extended to that point.[6] The village has the name of William Holgate, the original owner of the town site.[7] A post office has been in operation at Holgate since 1874.[8] Holgate was incorporated as a village in 1881.[9]Used to be a swamp
