A Bachelor’s Degree will take more time at as much as four years to complete and is more extensive in nature. One thing to consider is that Burlingame CA radiographer colleges have a practical training or lab component as part of their course of study. It can often be fulfilled by taking part in an internship or externship program which many colleges sponsor through local hospitals and clinics in their area. After you have graduated from one of the degree programs, you must comply with any licensing or certification requirements in California or the state you will be practicing in as applicable.

Radiologic Technologist Certification and Licensing

When you have graduated from an Radiologist college, based on the state where you will be employed you might need to become licensed. The majority of states do require licensing, and their prerequisites vary so check with your state. At present, all states that do require licensure will recognize The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination for the purpose of licensing, but several approve additional options for testing also. Several states also require certification as part of the licensing process, otherwise it is optional. Having said that, numerous Burlingame CA employers would rather hire radiology techs that are certified so it could enhance your career options to become certified. ARRT’s certification program calls for graduation from an approved program in addition to a passing score on their comprehensive exam. Plus online programs are frequently more affordable than traditional alternatives. In addition to reduced tuition, expenditures for commuting and study materials can be lessened also. But just make sure that the online program you pick is accredited (more on the benefits of accreditation later). So if you are motivated enough to learn with this less formalized style of training, then online classes may be the ideal choice for you.

What to Ask Radiology Tech Colleges

After you have decided on the type of degree that you would like to earn, you can start the process of finding and assessing Burlingame CA x-ray tech schools. You will also need to decide if you want to attend classes online or commute to a nearby campus. If you opt for the latter, then obviously the location of the college will be critical. The price of tuition and supplementary expenditures will be an important variable as well. But in addition to location and cost, what else should you look at when evaluating schools? Well, you should find out if the schools are accredited, and if they sponsor internship or externship programs. To help you uncover some of these essential details before you make your decision, we have put together a list of questions that you should ask the schools you are considering.

Are the Radiology Technician Schools Accredited? The majority of radiology technician colleges have acquired some form of accreditation, whether national or regional. However, it’s still imperative to make sure that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly regarded accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs obtaining accreditation from the JRCERT have gone through a detailed review of their teachers and educational materials. If the college is online it can also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which focuses on online or distance education. All accrediting organizations should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. In addition to ensuring a quality education, accreditation will also help in obtaining financial aid and student loans, which are many times not offered for non-accredited schools. Accreditation can also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And many Burlingame CA employers will only hire a graduate of an accredited program for entry-level openings.

Are Internship Programs Sponsored? Ask if the California xray tech colleges you are evaluating have associations with area clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Not only are internships a great means to obtain hands on training in a clinical setting, they are additionally a way to fulfill the clinical training requirement for most programs. As a supplemental benefit, they can assist graduates and students develop professional relationships in the Burlingame CA health care community and assist with job placement.

Is Job Placement Assistance offered? You will probably wish to hit the ground running after graduation, but getting that initial job in a new profession can be difficult without assistance. Ask if the x-ray tech schools you are interviewing have job placement programs and what their placement rates are. High and rapid placement rates are an excellent sign that the schools have large networks and great relationships with Burlingame CA healthcare employers. It also confirms that their graduates are highly regarded and sought after.

Where is the School Located? For a number of students, the college they choose will need to be within travelling distance of their Burlingame CA residence. Students who have chosen to attend online classes obviously will not have to trouble themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of concern. Something to bear in mind is that if you choose to enroll in a program that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you might be required to pay a higher tuition. State colleges typically charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges usually charge a higher tuition for those students that don’t reside within their districts.

How Large are the Classes ? Unless you are the kind of person that likes to sit far in the rear of class or hide in the crowd, you will probably want a smaller class size. Small classes allow for more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Burlingame CA colleges you are reviewing what the typical student to teacher ratio is for their classes. If practical you may prefer to monitor one or more classes before making your ultimate decision. This will also give you a chance to converse with several of the instructors and students to get their opinions regarding the x-ray tech program also.

Does the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you need to confirm that the x-ray tech  program you ultimately select can furnish the class schedule you need. This is especially essential if you choose to continue working while attending classes. If you must schedule evening or weekend classes in Burlingame CA, confirm that they are available. If you can only attend part-time, check if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would need to enroll in. Also, learn what the protocol is for making up any classes that you may miss due to work, illness or family obligations.

Why Did You Choose to Be an X-Ray Tech?

When prepping to interview for an X-Ray Tech position, it's helpful to review questions you might be asked. Among the questions that recruiters frequently ask radiographer prospects is "What made you decide on radiography as a career?". What the interviewer is hoping to uncover is not just the personal reasons you might have for being a radiology technician, but also what qualities and talents you have that make you exceptional at what you do. You will likely be asked questions relating exclusively to radiography, in addition to a significant number of standard interview questions, so you should organize some approaches about how you want to respond to them. When formulating an answer, try to include the reasons the profession appeals to you along with the talents you possess that make you an excellent X-Ray tech and the best choice for the position. Don't attempt to memorize an answer, but jot down several concepts and topics that relate to your personal strengths and experiences. Some Background on Burlingame California

Burlingame, California

Burlingame /ˈbɜːrlɪŋɡeɪm/ is a city in San Mateo County, California. It is located on the San Francisco Peninsula and has a significant shoreline on San Francisco Bay. The city is named after diplomat Anson Burlingame and is often referred to as the City of Trees[9] due to the number of trees within the city and its numerous eucalyptus groves. Burlingame is known for its high residential quality of life with a walkable downtown area and excellent public school system. The current median home value in Burlingame is $1.8M+ and as of the 2010 U.S. Census, Burlingame had a population of 28,806.

Burlingame is situated on land previously owned by San Francisco-based merchant William Davis Merry Howard.[10] Howard planted many eucalyptus trees on his property and retired to live on the land. Howard died in 1856 and the land was sold to William C. Ralston, a prominent banker. In 1868, Ralston named the land after his friend, Anson Burlingame, the United States Ambassador to China. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, hundreds of lots in Burlingame were sold to people looking to establish new homes, and the town of Burlingame was incorporated in 1908. In 1910, the neighboring town of Easton was annexed and this area is now known as the Easton Addition neighborhood of Burlingame.

Burlingame is known as the City of Trees due to the number of trees within the city (18,000 public trees). In 1908, the Burlingame board of trustees passed an ordinance "prohibiting cutting, injuring, or destroying trees".[11] The city also has many parks and eucalyptus groves that add to the overall tree numbers.

There are four highways passing through Burlingame. Highway 101 runs near the bay running from San Jose to San Francisco. Highway 82, also known as El Camino Real, follows a parallel course. Highway 35 (Skyline Boulevard) connects with Interstate 280.

Caltrain has been serving Burlingame since 1985 when it bought out Southern Pacific. It used the same depot that was used in the early 20th century.
