At present, all states that do mandate licensure will recognize The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification exam for the purpose of licensing, but many provide other options for testing also. A number of states also call for certification as a component of the licensing procedure, otherwise it is voluntary. Having said that, many Helena AR employers will only hire radiology techs that are certified so it might improve your career options to earn certification. Accreditation may also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And many Helena AR health facilities will only hire a graduate of an accredited college for entry level openings.

Are Internships Sponsored? Inquire if the Arkansas xray technician colleges you are interested in have partnerships with regional clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Where is the Program Located? For a number of students, the college they decide on will have to be within travelling distance of their Helena AR residence. Individuals who have chosen to attend classes online obviously will not have to trouble themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of concern. Something to bear in mind is that if you choose to enroll in a program that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you might have to pay a higher tuition. State colleges usually charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges commonly charge a higher tuition to those students that don’t reside within their districts.

What are the Class Sizes ? Unless you are the kind of person that prefers to sit way in the back of the classroom or hide in the crowd, you will undoubtedly want a smaller class size. Smaller classes enable more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Helena AR schools you are reviewing what the average student to teacher ratio is for their classes. If practical you may prefer to sit in on one or more classes before making your final determination. This will also give you an opportunity to talk with several of the instructors and students to get their perspectives regarding the radiology tech program also.

Can the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you need to verify that the radiographer  college you ultimately choose can provide the class schedule you need. This is especially essential if you decide to continue working while attending school. If you must schedule night or weekend classes in Helena AR, check that they are available. If you can only attend part-time, verify if that is an alternative and how many courses or credit hours you would have to enroll in. Also, ask what the procedure is for making up any classes that you might miss because of illness, work or family emergencies.
